The Hunt is On: The Next Big Thing

As promised! Here are the items that Evelyn made for her “The Next Big Thing” hunt. So, the hunt began today, and will continue until February 12th. Here is some info for you:
Welcome to The Next big Thing Hunt!
This is a gridwide hunt features some stores that you may know and ones that you may not have ever heard of! The theme of the hunt is the next big thing! Designers have been asked to create something that they think/ hope will be the next big trend in 2011! Whether it be something totally new or an old item that has been given a modern twist!
There are a couple of rules for hunters.
1. Please do not be rude or moan about the hunt, prizes or store owners in group chat. If you have an issue/ question contact Evelyn Hartshon or Ronnette Raremaster.
2. For hints please check the blog or store hint givers, if you are really stuck ask in group chat for a second hint.
3. Anyone caught cheating – passing cheat sheets or announcing the location of hunt items in local chat will be banned from the store and possibly all the other stores.
Please use the blog and spreadsheet for info on problem stores and hints.

Styling Goddess Apparel Part 2 of 4 “Party Gowns”
I have a major soft spot for beautiful, well made, romantic designs. When I found Athene Forder’s shop, *Goddess Apparel* I fell in love. She has a wide variety of styles but you can see her hand in all of them. There are many period style clothing, some silks, several masks, formal wear and even some casual clothing. Her styles are very feminine and the textures she uses are very unique to many I’ve seen in SL. She also has gift certificates available for purchase if you wish to give a great gift to your friend or loved one.
A couple of weeks ago I was in her shop looking around and started chatting with her. I was interested in blogging her so she told me to pick out a few items and she would send them to me. Well…the very generous woman ended up sending me more than I even asked for. So I’ve been blogging the outfits in separate posts. Styling PomPomPom
I’m sure you know by now that I absolutely love finding good deals in SL. So when I stumbled across PomPomPom, I was ecstatic. Evelyn Hartshon’s whole entire collection is below 100L! And if that isn’t enough, she even has a discount room with some items for as little as 5L! And this stuff is not cheaply made. Its colorful, bright, great to mix and match and sure to bring a little cheer to your day. It did just that to me when I was blogging it. Even her store building and decor is so bright & cheery I like to go there just to look around. I’ve made a good little dent in her visitor counter!
So when I was there, again, last night…looking for another shirt to layer with the items I’d already bought for this post, I decided to take a few photos of the building to show you just how interesting it is. Evelyn also dropped on me her outfit she has made for “The Next Big Thing” Hunt. And I have decided I’m going to do a 2nd post on that one, so I can give you more information about the hunt as well. I wanted this post to focus on her shop in general. FYI: The hunt begins tomorrow, January 15th to February 12th…but more on that in the next post.
Evelyn is quite the busy woman. Not only does she own and design for PomPomPom, but also organizes hunts such as “The Next Big Thing” and “The Unknown Hunt Series”. She is the European manager for Cafe Andromeda, a club & beach resort, and is founder of the Fashion On A Budget Blog. I’ll be adding that blog to my blog roll! A Day in the Life of “An Auditioning Model”
Sweating palms, racing heartbeats, biting lips, pacing the floor…this could describe many things but today it is what was going on at SHYMS Mainstore. Shym Mosely, owner & designer of SHYMS, held a casting today to find 10 models (female) to represent her stunning brand in both Print & Runway. The backstage was literally overflowing with gorgeous ladies, there to show their best and disply why they should be chosen to represent such a gorgeous designer! I do not know that I could have ever chosen 10 from the women who came to the casting. I wish so much I could have taken pictures of each and everyone to show you just how beautiful they all were. Shym plans to cast for 5 more at an upcoming date. I don’t blame her!
Castings/auditions can always be stressful and nerve wracking. And waiting for the results even more so. When I first set foot in Shym’s shop, my mouth dropped to the floor. I had enough linden to purchase one gown for the casting. I stood there for what felt like hours, dragging my eyes away from one breath taking creation to the next, trying to decide what I wanted. And then my eyes fell on “SHYMS Dress Mathilda Black&Blue”. While I can’t say that I could choose a favorite, this one really hit me and felt like the one. So I bought it and took it home to style.
I don’t believe I have ever worked so hard to prepare for a casting. And I’m sure every other lady there was the same way, because they all looked absolutely beautiful. Its not every day you get the opportunity to do printwork AND runway for such a talented designer! And that hard work paid off. I am honored to be part of the 10 chosen and can’t wait to get to bring you more of her lovely designs on my blog. Congratulations to the following girls and Thank You Shym!!

The next release, letters to you version2, is a remake of a pink version from some time ago. The pink is very beautiful with lovely sculpted prims and the new black & white version is more formal. There are so very many wonderful designers and shops in SL that I keep running across that are new to me. A couple of days ago I found “Goddess Apparel”, by owner and designer Athene Forder. She has a beautiful style and brings it across in many different period dresses as well as things you could wear in modern days. She creates gowns, casual clothing, silks, and masks too! All her items are no copy/transfer so you can easily give them as a gift. And all prim & sculpted parts are modifiable for easy fitting. Styling “Guinevere” called for some Guinevere hair! And I used my new skin I bought from Gala Phoenix of Curio! This gorgeous gown had so many color options I couldn’t decide.
